The Dairy Production Medicine (DPM) Certificate Program is a 2-½ year course enabling veterinarians to gain skills and knowledge to help them increase the health and productivity of their client's herds, as well as increase the value of their consulting services. The program consists of ten 3-day intensive workshops which include a wide variety of hands-on farm problem solving, dairy practice innovations, as well as the latest in dairy production analysis. Program organization and instruction is provided jointly by Penn State University and the University of Pennsylvania, along with the addition of guest lecturers. Since the program's creation in 1991, five DPM programs have been run with the Fifth DPM recently ending in October 2007. A 6th DPM course is currently in planning to begin in 2009. If you are interested in attending and would like to be kept up to date as planning progresses, please let us know via our contact us page.
The DPM Program offers continuing education credits for each module. The amount of credits awarded determined based on the amount of instructional and hands-on hours involved, and generally range from 15-20 per module.
